Being a wingman can get you jailed in Tasmania!

Being a wingman can get you jailed in Tasmania!

Conspiracy is generally a bad thing. Unless you're conspiring to throw a surprise party. Then, by all means, proceed.

According to Australian law, there are several types of conspiracy that constitute a crime. Most are fairly obvious. Conspiring to kill someone, conspiring to obstruct justice, conspiring to cheat or defraud the public.

Some are less obvious, at least when you start to think about them. It is against the law to conspire to facilitate the seduction of a woman.

At first glance, this sounds right. "Seduction" sounds a bit like tricking the woman into doing something against her will. However, what are men and women doing when they go to bars and try to pick up a member of the opposite sex? They're flirting. They're seducing.

And the friend who is talking you up to this romantic interest is facilitating this seduction. So technically, it's illegal to be a wingman (or wingwoman) in Australia. Watch yourself.
