Memory : Memory Conformity

Two people who witness the same event may have different memories about what happened. This is because people pay attention to different things, and because memories fade and become distorted. If these people are allowed to talk, they can seriously distort each other's memory of what happened. This phenomenon is called "memory conformity." People who experience the same thing naturally want their memories to be the same, and as a result they can be talked out of their true memory and convinced to believe something that is false.

This frequently happens to married couples or family members who are trying to remember something that happened in the past. If the two people disagree on a particular detail, one person can often be convinced that their memory is wrong even if it isn't.

Vocabulary : Word of the Day : Peripatetic

per-i-pa-tet-ic

adj :: Moving or traveling from place to place.

"Once my children were born I gave up my peripatetic lifestyle and settled down."

Creativity : Clear Your Mind

Because we are always thinking, planning, and worrying about things, our minds tend to get cluttered with thoughts and it becomes difficult to focus all of our mental energies on a specific task. You can't think creatively about a problem when half of your mind is thinking about what you want to eat for dinner or how bad the traffic is going to be when you leave work. Before you begin a task where you want to apply all of your creative ability, start by clearing out your mind.

There are many ways of doing this, try this one to start. Sitting comfortably, find a nearby object such as a pencil. Now, stare at it. Try to empty your mind of every thought that isn't related to your object. Your whole universe is the pencil. What would it be like to be a pencil? Without touching it, close your eyes and imagine what a pencil feels like. Does it have a smell? A taste? If any unrelated thought enters your mind, refocus your attention onto your object. With practice you will become better at shutting out unrelated thoughts. Do this for at least 5 minutes (set a timer so you aren't thinking about the time). You should find that your mind is more focused and has fewer distracting thoughts. This is the correct mindset for creative thinking.

3d Printed Ultrasounds

Let’s be honest

Brand new babies look creepy. Sure, they grow to be cute after they’ve been out of the womb for awhile, but brand new…. not so much.

Which is why 3D Babies just may be the creepiest product ever.

Imagine holding your baby before he or she is born.

3D Babies uses your 3D or 4D ultrasound to make a graphic rendering that can then be manufactured using a 3D printer!

They have three offers: Life-size , Half-size, and Mini.

I don’t think I’m the only one who is creeped out by this product. Would you want to open a box and see your unborn fetus staring back at you?

via Mighty Optical Illusions http://ift.tt/1npUv9A

How are all of you doing out there today? It’s Thursday, so I bet a lot of your are pumped up, because tomorrow it’s Friday. After tomorrow, you get to sit back, relax and enjoy some of the optical illusions I’m going to be posting up on the site from the comfort of your own home, instead of at the desk at your office! Today I have a brain teaser optical illusion that I bet all of you are going to fall in love with. This particular one is known as the “missing brick optical illusion.” Basically, as you’ll see in the image below, there’s a hole in the wall where a brick used to be and a brick is on the sidewalk. It’s your job to figure out whether or not that brick is the same size as the empty space in the wall. Would it fill that space perfectly? Is the brick too big? Too small? Scroll down to see what you think!

The Missing Brick Optical Illusion

So, what do you think? Would the brick fit in the wall or do you think it’s too big? Maybe it’s too small? Either way, you should leave your guess in the comments section below and let us know what you think. Also, make sure you share this with your friends, as I’m sure it will definitely toy with their brain, as well. If you liked this optical illusion, you can rate it by clicking on one of the stars below to let us know what you think. I greatly value your feedback.
