This man once killed 505 people in 100 days—and was given a medal for it!

In the winter of 1939, Josef Stalin decided to take as much land as he could from Finland and claim it for the Soviet Union.

Little did he know about Simon Hayha, a man that would make his troops lives miserable. He was a Finnish soldier who wouldn’t allow his country to succumb to Soviet invasion. During the attack, he was able to take down 505 soldiers in 100 days.

The soviets tried bombing the area he was in, sending their own snipers to hunt him, but no one ever caught him. A soviet sniper managed to shot Hayha in the jaw, which sent him into a coma for 11 days.

When he woke up, his Finnish comrades were digging him out of the snow and the Soviets had given up on their war. He lived to the ripe old age of 97.

This stunning hotel IS NOT safe for people with high blood pressure.

Palacio de Sal s a hotel built of salt blocks. It is located at the edge of Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat, 220 miles south of Bolivia's capital La Paz.

The first hotel was built in 1993-1995 out of salt blocks in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni, and soon became a popular tourist destination. It had 12 double rooms, a common bathroom, and no shower.

Its location in the center of a desert produced sanitary problems, as most waste had to be collected manually. Mismanagement caused serious environmental pollution and the hotel had to be dismantled in 2002.

Around 2007, a new hotel was built, under the name Palacio de Sal. The building was constructed of about 1 million 14-inch salt blocks, which are used for the floor, walls, ceiling and furniture, including beds, tables, chairs and sculptures.

The sanitary system has been restructured to comply with the government regulations. The hotel has a dry sauna and a steam room, a saltwater pool and whirlpool baths.

Santa Claus was declared a Canadian citizen as part of this shrewd political plot.

The Canadian minister of Citizen Immigration and Multiculturalism officially declared Santa Claus to be a Canadian citizen in a shrewd political move to reaffirm Canada's claim of northern sovereignty over that of the Russians and the Dutch.

The Harper government has issued Santa a Canadian passport—a lighthearted Christmas stunt that comes weeks after it served noticed it would lay claim to the North Pole as part of an international bid for seabed riches in Arctic.

Immigration Minister Chris Alexander presented one of this country’s high-tech ePassports to “Santa Claus” and “Mrs. Claus” at a special ceremony in the Greater Toronto Area.

At least Santa Claus is already wearing Canada’s colors.

I couldn't believe this one thing Ronald Reagan asked when he was wheeled into surgery.

The attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan occurred on March 30, 1981, 69 days into his presidency. While leaving a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., President Reagan and three others were shot and wounded by John Hinckley, Jr.

The chief of thoracic surgery, Benjamin L. Aaron, decided to perform a thoracotomy lasting 105 minutes because the bleeding persisted. Ultimately, Reagan lost over half of his blood volume in the emergency room and during surgery.

In the operating room, Reagan removed his oxygen mask to joke, "I hope you are all Republicans." The doctors and nurses laughed, and Giordano, a liberal Democrat, replied, "Today, Mr. President, we are all Republicans."

The Lone Gunmen are a trio of fictional characters, Richard "Ringo" Langly, Melvin Frohike and John Fitzgerald Byers, who appeared in recurring roles on the American television series The X-Files. In 2001, they starred in the short-lived spin-off, The Lone Gunmen. Their name was derived from the lone gunman theory of the John F. Kennedy assassination.

One retrospectively interesting aspect of their pilot episode is that an airliner has been hijacked (via remote control of the plane's autopilot). Byers and his father board the plane to try to stop the hijacking.

Through the aid of the other Gunmen, they are able to regain control of the plane and just miss crashing into the World Trade Center with the airliner. The show aired just 5 months before the actual 9/11 attack against the World Trade Center.

Band-Aids can emit a blue flash of light if you rip them off in just the right way, and we have the secret!

Band-Aids can emit a blue flash of light if you rip them off in just the right way, and we have the secret!

Triboluminescence is an optical phenomenon in which light is generated through the breaking of chemical bonds in a material when it is pulled apart, ripped, scratched, crushed, or rubbed.

The phenomenon is not fully understood, but appears to be caused by the separation and reunification of electrical charges.

Materials scientists have not yet arrived at a full understanding of the effect, but the current theory of triboluminescence is that upon fracture of asymmetrical materials, charge is separated. When the charges recombine, the electric discharge ionizes the surrounding air causing a flash of light.

Band-aids emit tribulominescence visible to the human eyewhen pulled apart in the dark. If you’d like to see a video where this occurs, make sure you check the source link.

The "I Love Lucy" sets, props, and wardrobe were all the same color! How is that even possible?

I Love Lucy was a landmark American television sitcom starring Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. The black-and-white series originally ran from October 15, 1951, to May 6, 1957, on CBS.

I Love Lucy is still syndicated in dozens of languages across the world. A colorized version of it's Christmas episode attracted more than 8 million viewers when CBS aired it in prime time in 2013, 62 years after the show premiered.

What most people don’t know is that the "I Love Lucy" sets, props, and even wardrobe were all just various shades of gray to ensure that the show looked good on Black & White TV.

Check out what these guys did inside an abandoned Wal-Mart!

Check out what these guys did inside an abandoned Wal-Mart!

There are thousands of abandoned big box stores sitting empty all over America, including hundreds of former Walmart stores.

With each store taking up enough space for 2.5 football fields, Walmart’s use of more than 698 million square feet of land in the U.S. Is one of it's biggest environmental impacts.

But at least one of those buildings has been transformed into something arguably much more useful: The nation’s largest library.

Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle transformed an abandoned Walmart in McAllen, Texas, into a 124,500-square-foot public library, the largest single-floor public library in the United States.

The library is amazing, it has every type of book that you can think off and it even has a computer lab. It might be worth checking it out if you are ever around McAllen, Texas.

The most expensive photograph in the World was photoshopped! Can you guess how much it costs?

It may be a featureless, empty image of the Rhine river in Germany - but someone has just forked out $US4.3 million for it.

The photograph, taken by German artist Andreas Gursky in 1999, is now the world's most expensive After an auction at Christie’s New York. The record price for the 1.8- by 3.6-metre image exceeded pre-sale estimates of $US2.5 to $US3.5 million.

However, this photography is photoshopped. The artist removed all features in the photograph, including a building, dog walkers and cyclists.

She said she was trying to make people appreciate the river and it's surroundings, just how peaceful it looks and hopes that all those that see this picture can find beauty in something so simple.

You've heard of 300 and the Battle of Thermopyolae—but have you heard of Pont Saint Louis?

You've heard of 300 and the Battle of Thermopyolae—but have you heard of Pont Saint Louis?

The Italian invasion of France in June 1940 was a small-scale invasion that started near the end of the Battle of France during World War II.

On 10 June 1940, Italy declared war on France and Britain. The French government was already fleeing to Bordeaux and Paris was an open city.

Feeling that the war would soon be over, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini said to Pietro Badoglio, the Chief of Staff of the Italian Royal Army, "I only need a few thousand dead so that I can sit at the peace conference as a man who has fought".

However, Italy was not prepared for war and Italy's armed forces made little impact during the last few days of the Battle of France.

In fact, during this invasion, 9 French soldiers defended the Pont Saint Louis against 5000 Italians for 10 days, of which 700 Italians were killed or injured. A good strategy can surely overpass numbers.

Sandy Subway 3D Chalk Drawing

I absolutely love posting up 3D chalk drawing optical illusions, because they never fail to completely impress me. Unfortunately, I don’t have a single artistic bone in my body. I’ve always wanted to be an artist, but I’m just not cut out for it. Therefore, I have massive amount of respect for anyone that can take something from their imagination and put it on a canvas. Some people take their artistic abilities off the paper and pump out some amazing 3D chalk art. This is one of those people. As you can see, someone used some chalk in a subway and made it look as if people are sitting on the beach and in the tide. Check it out by scrolling down.
