Today’s Daily Brain Teaser (Feb 02, 2016)

One Who Yawns

I have been called a savage, a chief and oft times a leader.

Some have called me the embodiment of courage, although to a Crook I did surrender.

Where I was born, there were no enclosures.

In the end, to bring me down, it took 5000 soldiers.

As the “terror of the country”, I had a reputation of cruelty and cunning.

My tactics consisted of hitting and then running.

Many movies and stories of me were made.

The memories of me, the most famous of my people, will never fade.

People have spoken ill of me so many times it would give your throat a lump.

Yet sometimes, my name is the last word said when people make a big jump.

Now it’s time to give it a try.

Do you know my name; who am I?

Check Braingle.com for the answer.

Creativity : Icebreaker: Mixed Phrase

crafty puzzles daily brain teaser

Icebreakers are little exercises that help relax tension and loosen up a formal atmosphere in a meeting where you want creative ideas and group participation.

In this icebreaker, one person is sent out of the room. The rest of the people pick a common phrase, movie title, or quote. Split up the phrase so each person in the room gets a word. For the phrase “A rolling stone gathers no moss,” one person would get the word “rolling,” someone else would get “stone,” and so on. You can omit the little words such as a, in, it, the, etc.

Now, invite the person back into the room. They can then ask people questions, such as “What color is your hair?” The person must answer the question and incorporate their secret word. For example, if your word was ‘rolling’ you might say, “Well, I was rolling down the street in my car when I noticed in the rearview mirror that I had a grey hair, but normally it’s brown.” Be creative! The question-asker must figure out the original phrase by deciphering which words are assigned to each player.

Lady Color Illusion

Lady Color Illusion

With two kids home sick with a mild case of food poisoning, I’m quite behind with today’s tasks. You’ll have to excuse the lateness and shortness of today’s post. Hopefully, the sheer awesomeness of today’s color illusion will speak for itself…

Lady Color Illusion

Okay, so it’s not mind blowing, but it’s still pretty cool. You might not see what’s so special about it just yet, though. Take a look at the first picture on the upper left corner and the last picture on the lower right corner. The first picture of the woman probably appears darker to you, doesn’t it. In reality, though, it’s exactly the same as the last picture. If you don’t believe me, open the picture in a photo editor and move the pictures next to each other. You can also use a color picker tool to check.

If you liked this color illusion, be sure to check out this animated color optical illusion!
