Louis Vuitton was the French king's baggage carrier!
When it comes to fashion brands, few are more well known than Louis Vuitton. So just who was the man behind the brand?
Vuitton was born in Anchay, France and came from a long family of working class people. Vuitton’s mother died when he was fourteen, and he decided he would run away for Paris!
Traveling alone and on foot, it took him two years to get to Paris. When he arrived he was astonished by the incredible wealth and the inconceivable poverty.
Sixteen years after arriving in Paris, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte staged a coup and took over the government and became Emperor Napoleon III. Vuitton had established himself as a well known box maker.
Napoleon’s wife hired him as her personal box carrier, which eventually turned into high-class luggage. Vuitton was charged with “packing the most beautiful clothes in an exquisite way.” Today it is amazing where the brand went!

Today's Daily Brain Teaser (Nov 11, 2013)
I represent love.
I'm the daughter of Heaven and Sea.
You may find me in the sky above,
And many envy my beauty.
My love belongs to fire,
But if I said I was true to him
I would be a liar,
But I have no shame for my whims.
My son taught many to love.
To me the only earthly items of worth
Are myrtle, sparrow, swan, and dove.
And no one remembers my birth.

Creativity : Letter to Yourself
Sit down and write a letter to yourself about the problem you are working on. Pretend that you are writing the letter to someone who knows nothing about the project; give a good description, including everything that you have done to date. Be as detailed as possible. Don't forget to mention any constraints that are imposed on the problem and what types of solutions are preferred. Then, give your subconscious a deadline. For example, you could write, "I expect a full report by the end of the week!" It may seem silly to write to yourself in this way, but give it a try. Now close up the letter and put it away.
Unbeknownst to you, your subconscious will continue to think about the problem. When the deadline approaches, open up the letter and read it. Chances are that by that point (or possibly earlier) you will have experienced a flash of insight that illuminates a potential solution.

The US has been using the same poverty guidelines since 1965!
Poverty is the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money. Absolute poverty or destitution refers to the deprivation of basic human needs, which commonly includes food, water, sanitation, clothing, shelter, health care and education.
Since 1965, there have been two slightly different versions of the federal poverty measure:
- Poverty thresholds, which are more detailed and primarily used for statistical purposes; and
- Poverty guidelines, which are a simplified version of the thresholds, primarily used for administrative purposes.
The US has been using the same poverty guideline since 1965. It assumes we spend 1/3 of our income on food, & sets the federal poverty level at 3 times the estimated cost of a family's food. However, we now spend only 1/6 of our income on food, while other necessities have become far more expensive.

Sandwiches taste better when someone makes them for you!
This is mainly because when we make food for ourselves, we get desensitized to the smell, and a large part of tasting is actually smelling.
So when you make food for yourself, when you eat it, it's similar to tasting without smelling.
When someone else does the cooking for you, and ideally when you're in another room, where you can't smell it, the result is different.
When you walk in to have your food, you get to smell and taste it at the same time, so it tastes better to you. The same principle applies to eating leftovers.
Have you ever heard someone say that a certain food, tastes better the next day? It's the same idea.
Typically, leftovers are preserved in the refrigerator, so they don't give off much of an aroma until heated. So there's actually a scientific explanation behind why your pizza tastes better the next day!

A man sent NASA a $20 parking ticket for landing on his asteroid!
Space has many wonders, many of them are beautiful too the human eye, such as the moon and the stars. People love them, and some would do anything in order to possess a little piece of some of them.
Some people have been lucky enough to have something from space to land on their backyard. Most of them use this as an investment, as a way of getting money by trying to sell it to some organization or someone who is willing to offer the right amount of money.
There is a perfect example for explaining this, of Gregory W. Nemitz, a man who in 2000, registered land on the asteroid 433 Eros. The land contained $492 Quinian worth of platinum. And, when NASA landed a probe on a place on the asteroid that he had called 'Parking Space 29', Nemitz sent NASA a $20 parking ticket.

Steve Wozniak gave much of his Apple stock to employees who didn't get stock before the IPO!
Steve Wozniak is an American inventor, computer engineer and programmer who co-founded Apple Computer with Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne.
Wozniak single-handedly invented both the Apple I and Apple II computers in the late 1970s. These computers contributed significantly to the microcomputer revolution.
In order for you to understand this is important for you to know that an initial public offering (IPO) is a type of public offering where shares of stock in a company are sold to the general public, on a securities exchange, for the first time.
This man was pretty awesome. Steve Wozniak gave much of his Apple Stock to employees who otherwise would not have received stock after the IPO. Thanks to this apple has grown as a company and has become what it is today.

Staying awake for 17 hours is the same for your body drinking 2 glasses of wine!
It can be tempting to cut back on the hours you sleep at night to finish a paper or get some extra work done, but staying awake for 17 hours actually has the same effects on your body as drinking two glasses of wine.
It messes with the brain's ability to function, making it harder to concentrate and affecting judgment.
It's not entirely clear to scientists why we need to sleep because the energy saved by sleeping is fairly low, about 50 kCal.
Sleep simply affects the brain's ability to function. People throughout history, including the famed scientist Thomas Edison, have claimed sleeping is a waste of time, but reality says differently.
Any college student would tell you differently after pulling an all-nighter: Sleep is completely necessary. Different people need different amounts of sleep, the normal ranges are from five to eleven hours of sleep.
In the animal kingdom amounts differ even more. A boa constrictor sleeps eighteen hours while a giraffe sleeps just under two. Who would you rather be: The long-sleeping boa constrictor or the giraffe who could get by on almost no sleep?
