Louis Vuitton was the French king's baggage carrier!

Louis Vuitton was the French king's baggage carrier!

When it comes to fashion brands, few are more well known than Louis Vuitton. So just who was the man behind the brand?

Vuitton was born in Anchay, France and came from a long family of working class people. Vuitton’s mother died when he was fourteen, and he decided he would run away for Paris!

Traveling alone and on foot, it took him two years to get to Paris. When he arrived he was astonished by the incredible wealth and the inconceivable poverty.

Sixteen years after arriving in Paris, Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte staged a coup and took over the government and became Emperor Napoleon III. Vuitton had established himself as a well known box maker.

Napoleon’s wife hired him as her personal box carrier, which eventually turned into high-class luggage. Vuitton was charged with “packing the most beautiful clothes in an exquisite way.” Today it is amazing where the brand went!
