Are you an adrenaline junkie? Forget skydiving. You can hire a company to kidnap you!

Are you an adrenaline junkie? Forget skydiving. You can hire a company to kidnap you!

For less than the equivalent of $1600, you can pay French company, Ultime Ralit to give you a basic abduction package.

The package includes you being taken by strangers, gagged and forced into a car and kept in a dark cellar for 4 hours.

For an added fee, you can add boat chases or helicopter escapes to your abduction package. You can also stay in that dark cellar for longer... If you pay.

The company offers to get you through real sensations of violence, terror and fear of a real kidnapping. If you dare, you will sign a contract and liability waiver. Once you sign it, you have no idea when your kidnapping will take place.

The company follows you and abducts you at the right time. Some people have decided to use the service in order to tackle some of their greatest fears. For example, being buried alive. While the service is not technically illegal, the police say authorities should be warned. Would you ever consider being fake kidnapped like this?

If you ever hear "The Stars and Stripes Forever" in a circus, you might have reason to panic!

If you ever hear "The Stars and Stripes Forever" in a circus, you might have reason to panic!

"The Stars and Stripes Forever" is a patriotic American march widely considered to be the magnum opus of composer John Philip Sousa.

By an act of the U.S. Congress, it is the official National March of the United States of America.

"The Stars and Stripes Forever" follows the standard American military march form. The march begins with a four-bar introduction, which is followed by a dotted, playful melody.

Despite of his catchy tone and beautiful sound, in a circus, "The Stars and Stripes Forever" would be played by the circus band to alert performers to distress and emergencies.

This song has not always been use as an entertaining song; it has been used to prevent fatalities or accidents from occurring.

Plants can recognize their siblings!

Plants can recognize their siblings!

It sounds strange but it's true. A study of over 3,000 mustard seedlings showed that the budding plants were able to recognize their 'sibling' seedlings from others.

The way they did this is because seedlings that come from the same parent plant have a unique chemical makeup that let's the family recognize each other. The behavioral change is dramatic.

When the plants were around non-relatives, they were in fiercer competition to extend their roots and gobble up as much water and nutrients as they could, leaving out the other plants.

When they were next to their siblings, they tried to form shallower roots and had more intertwined leaves. The behavior is not exclusive to mustard plants. It was also observed in the sea rocket, a common plant that grows near seashores.

They tested the theory growing a plant called Arabidopsis thaliana, in two different settings. One had chemicals from sibling plants, whereas others had unrelated plants. Their findings concluded the same results as the one for the mustard seeds.

Julie Andrews has a higher vocal range than most professional opera singers!

Julie Andrews has a higher vocal range than most professional opera singers!

Julie Andrews is an English film and stage actress, singer, author, theatre director, and dancer.

Andrews made her feature film debut in Mary Poppins, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress. Andrews is also an author of children's books, and in 2008 published an autobiography, Home: A Memoir of My Early Years.

One thing that Julie Andrews knows to do well is to sing. She loves it, and she has an amazing voice that astonished many generations, including the newest ones. The reason why her voice sounds so angelical is because he has a 4 octave vocal range.

With a 4 octave vocal range there is a lot of beautiful music that she can sing! Most professional opera singers have a 3 octave vocal range. A 2 octave vocal range is considered good for a regular singer.

Safeway got its name from a policy of not letting you go into debt for buying groceries!

Safeway got its name from a policy of not letting you go into debt for buying groceries!

Safeway is currently the second largest grocery store chain in America. Founded in 1912 under the name Sam Seelig Stores, it was deep in debt after World War I and changed management.

When thinking of a good name to use W.R.H. Weldon attempted to find something that was relatable and made people feel safe in dangerous times. The original slogan was “an admonition and an invitation” to “Drive the Safeway; buy the Safeway.”

By “safe way,” they meant that they only accepted cash. Credit wasn’t accepted so people couldn’t go into debt. Thus shopping the safe way meant only buying what you could actually afford, an idea that seems to have completely disappeared today!

When Atari closed up in 1996, the source code to famous games was thrown in the trash!

Abandonware is a product, typically software, ignored by it's owner and manufacturer, and for which no product support is available.

Although such software is usually still under copyright, the owner may not be tracking or enforcing copyright violations.

If a software product reaches End-of-life and becomes abandonware, users are confronted with several potential problems: Missing purchase availability (besides used software) and missing technical support.

These problems are exacerbated if software is bound to physical media with a limited life-expectancy (floppy discs, optical media etc.) And backups are impossible because of copy protection or copyright law.

Also, once a software product has become abandonware for a developer, even historically important software might get lost forever very easily, as several examples have shown.

One of many examples is the closure of Atari in Sunnyvale in 1996, when the original source code of several milestones of video game history (like Asteroids or Centipede) was thrown out as trash.

Croissants are not French!

Croissants are not French!

A croissant is a buttery flaky viennoiserie pastry named for it's well known crescentshape. Croissants and other viennoiserie are made of a layered yeast-leavened dough.

The dough is layered with butter, rolled and folded several times in succession, then rolled into a sheet, in a technique called laminating. The process results in a layered, flaky texture, similar to a puff pastry.

This delicious treat, along with French fries, has been uncorrectly attributed as a French dish.

The earliest story of the croissant dates to 1683 when Ottoman Turks sieged Vienna, Austria. The legend says a baker warned the military of Turks tunneling under the city.

When the Turks were defeated, the baker made a pastry in the shape of the muslim crescent so that people would symbolically be devouring the Turks they just defeated. It was called a kripfel.

Then, the pastry would make its way to Paris via an Austrian artillery officer who started a baker and brought with him the kripfel and it evolved into the croissant.

Male orb-weaver spiders give back rubs to their mates so they don't get eaten!

Male orb-weaver spiders give back rubs to their mates so they don't get eaten!

The male golden orb-weaver spider has a dangerous job when it's time for mating.

The male spider, poor guy, is considerably smaller than the female. Some females spiders can be up to ten times the size of males.Talk about Napoleon complex!

That said, a male spider has a bit to overcompensate for since the female may be more interested in eating him than in mating.

Males have several strategies. One of their tactics to avoid becoming lunch is to give the female a back rub. The massaging motions of the spider are officially called mate binding.

Basically, the male massages the female, so that she'll allow him to mate with her, without killing him before he gets the chance.

The male spider releases silk over the back of the female as he massages her. Even with the efforts to calm the female, the male still has a high chance of being eaten. In a study, 40% of the female spiders were not calmed, and many of that number ate the male.

The same study also suggested that it was the feeling of the massage that soothed the female, and not the smell of the silk as some scientists suggested.

Wintergreen is not a type of mint!

Wintergreen is not a type of mint!

There are many different types of candy mints, and many of them do not actually have real mint oil in them, rather they just have mint flavoring.

Wintergreen, for example, is not actually mint, but only a type of flavoring.

These flavorings are a part of candy mints, but are not actually from the biological family Mentha, the mint family.

Other classifications for mints include hard mints, soft mints, scotch mints, and mint imperials.

Hard mints are what people generally think of when they think of mints: A hard mint used for freshening your breath, including brands like Altoids and Tic Tacs.

Soft mints are made with a lot of butter so that they melt in your mouth. Scotch mints are generally found in the United Kingdom and are round and have a hard shell, but a softer inside.

Mint imperials are like scotch mints, except there inside is more crumbly than soft. Mint is also generally considered good for digestion. For this reason, it is not uncommon, nor a bad idea to drink mint tea after eating.
