SWMBO Jewelry Box

Hello This will be my first post. I just caught the wooding working bug a couple of years ago. These are some pictures of my first jewelry box, and first real wood working project. I’ve made some picture frames before this, but those are nothing compared to this jig saw puzzle. The door has 118 pieces if I remember correctly. I used maple, (regular, curly, quilted and birdeye), bloodwood, ebony, canary, lacewood, rosewood, cocobolo, cherry and ash. I essential raided my father inlaws scrap wood bin. The handle is actually a piano key, from a piano that was left out for trash by my work. I ended up only buying the ebony, rosewood and curly maple. The rest was scrap that I had from picture frames and my father inlaw’s scrap. It is approx 10”x10”x24” in size.

This was my wife’s xams gift a couple of years ago. She has a degree in architecture so she loved the design. I wish I would have video taped her reaction, she was stunned.

Hope you guys like it, it took a long time to make.
