Today’s Daily Brain Teaser (Jan 11, 2016)

crafty puzzles daily brain teaser

Deadly Horizon

I hover out there in darkness unseen.

I will shred things to pieces ’till they’re just smithereens.

I might serve as a gateway to places unspoken,

Yet I’m sealed off to man, forever unbroken.

I twist and distort, only darkness escapes,

I destroy all I find

Whatever I take.

Stress : Anxiety

crafty puzzles daily brain teaser

Many people use the words ‘anxiety’ and ‘stress’ interchangeably, and although they are related, they do not mean the same thing. Anxiety is a feeling of fear or apprehension about future uncertainties, which may contain unknown dangers. Anxiety can cause sweating, heart palpitations, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath or trembling.

Stress is a larger term that includes anxiety as well as feelings of frustration, anger or nervousness. Stress and anxiety are highly personal things. What makes one person feel stressed or anxious may not make someone else feel the same way.

Anxiety disorders are strong cases that have a serious negative impact on a person’s life. Some common anxiety disorders are phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and social anxiety disorder. For many of these conditions there are drugs or treatments that are effective.

Memory : Smarter Children’s Brains Develop Later

crafty puzzles daily brain teaser

After analyzing brain scans of hundreds of children over almost two decades, researchers have found that the brains of smarter children develop later in life than the brains of children with average intelligence.

In all children, the Cerebral Cortex grows thicker to a certain point and then thins out during the next few years. In children with average intelligence this thinning out starts at around age 7. In children with above average intelligence, the thinning out doesn’t start until as late as age 13.

It is still unclear what factors, besides genes, may contribute to this difference, but environmental factors have not been ruled out.

Invisible Man Shadow Illusion

Invisible Man Shadow Illusion

I haven’t posted a shadow illusion lately, have I? Shadow illusions are some of my favorite optical illusions. They’re so simple, but still so striking!

This simple shadow optical illusion is enough to really make you think, or at least do a double take…

Invisible Man Shadow Illusion

Is it an invisible man? Would an invisible man even cast a shadow? I’d say this is a pretty creepy shadow optical illusion. There’s just something a little disconcerting about an empty pair of shoes casting a shadow.

It’s most likely Photoshopped, though. Otherwise, where’s the person who’s actually casting the shadow? What do you think? How was this shadow illusion created?

If you like this illusion, be sure to give it a good rating below! Your ratings help determine which illusions get posted each day.

If you liked this shadow illusion, head over and check out this panty hose shadow optical illusion!
