Alexander The Great's last will and testament includes this strange sex wish.

Alexander the Great had sort of a weird request in his last will and testament.

In it he said he wanted: "transplant of populations from Asia to Europe and in the opposite direction from Europe to Asia, in order to bring the largest continent to common unity and to friendship by means of intermarriage and family ties." A

lexander the Great, or Alexander III of Macedon, was a king of Macedon in the fourth century BC.

By thirty years old, he was responsible for one of the largest empires of the ancient world.

To this day he is considered one of history's most successful commanders. Before his death, he had given detailed written instructions as his last will.

Though Craterus, his successor, started to carry them out, the following kings didn't. Included were things like the construction of a tomb for his father large enough to match the pyramids of Egypt, the erection of massive temples in Delos, Delphi, Dium, and more, and the erection of a temple to Athena at Troy.

Also detailed was the conquest of Arabia and the Mediterranean Basin, circumnavigation of Africa, and of course the development of cities and movement of populations across Asia and Europe to bring better unity to the landmass.

Memory : Date Linking

One way to remember a date is to consciously link it to a date or fact that you already know. For example, you could remember someone's birthday by remembering that it is exactly two months and two days after your birthday. There are many dates (birthdays, holidays, anniversaries) that you already know, and it is very easy to link new dates to these using simple mathematics. The linking method works for two reasons. First, it associates a date with another date that you will never forget (for example, your own birthday!). Second, simply figuring out the association will keep you thinking about the date long enough for it to get into your long term memory.

You can also link dates to important facts. For example, if your sports buddy has a birthday on April 9th, you could remember that April 9 is 4/9 which is the 49ers -- San Francisco's football team.

Vocabulary : Word of the Day : Pulchritude

pul-chri-tude

noun :: Great physical beauty.

"The singer didn't have a good voice, and was only famouse because of her pulchritude."

Creativity : Horizontally Smarter

A recent study by the Australian National University tested peoples' problem solving abilities while standing up and lying down. They found that people were slightly better at solving problems while in a horizontal position.

This difference in cognitive ability may come from the varied release of a neurotransmitter called noradrenaline, which is believed to interfere with creative thinking. When you are lying down, your body releases less noradrenaline.

So, if you need to do some serious thinking, lying down may slightly boost your performance.

The women of a conquered castle save their men in the most ingenius and amazing way possible!

Today, Weinsberg is just another town in Germany. Founded hundreds of years ago, it's today notable for it's wine.

Back in 1000, however, the Weibertreu Castle located there was first built.

In 1140, the castle was attacked by Konrad III during a series of struggles between the Staufers and the Welfs.

On December 21, the Welfs in Weibertreu Castle had to surrender. Though the men had been defeated, the women were allowed to leave with their lives- and whatever they could take on their backs.

Quickly thinking, the women carried the men out, and Konrad III had to keep his word. The women who did this were called "trueue Weiber," or "loyal women." The castle still stands today, and you can see a picture of it on the right.

A bottle of wine beatout 2300 others in a competition. You'll be shocked to hear how much it cost!

It's the kind of thing that would embarrass most wine connoisseurs. Many professional wine tasters equate quality with price.

The higher the cost, the older the wine, the better quality it is.

But at the 28th Annual International Eastern Wine Competition, that was all proven wrong.

The bottle of California wine, called Two Buck Chuck, made by Charles Shaw Shiraz, won a double gold medal.

Interested in some more wine facts including one type of wine made by a Star Wars actor? Read on! As put together in a Cracked.com article, the entire idea of professional wine tasting has been debunked as nonsense.

In an experiment, "wine experts" were given two bottles of the same wine. One was labeled "vin de table," a more generic name, and the other was "grand cru," a highly respected name.

The tasters said that the first bottle was "simple, unbalanced, and weak," while the second was "complex, balanced, and full."

Halle Berry won the Razzie for Worst Actress. This is how good a sport she was about it.

Halle Berry won the Razzie for Worst Actress. This is how good a sport she was about it.

In case you haven't heard, there exists an award ceremony for all things terrible in cinema.

It's been around for three decades and is called the Golden Raspberry Awards, or Razzie Awards.

Every year, the Razzies precede the Oscars by one day, and very rarely do they get as much coverage or celebrity enthusiasm.

The awards are in the form of a fake raspberry on top of a Super 8 mm film reel, spray painted gold.

The most recent ceremony was held in Santa Monica last April. It was a notable Razzies because the movie Jack and Jill won every single award.

Adam Sandler won both worst actor and actress, and the movie itself beat out tough competitors like Twilight and Transformers. So it's not hard to understand why most actors wouldn't jump at the chance to accept the awards.

If you remember Halle Berry's Catwoman, then maybe you'd understand the nominations. Halle Berry won Worst Actress for the role and she went up and accepted the award while holding her Best Actress Oscar for Monster's Ball.

Why would she be such a good sport about it? Well according to her, "First of all, I want to thank Warner Brothers. Thank you for putting me in a piece of shit, god-awful movie... It was just what my career needed." So everything worked out for the best then.

Broken Clock

Devin Faraci can be pretty annoying, but he gets this one exactly right. The term “bullying” is now essentially meaningless, since it just applies to everything. If Kim Kardashaion can say she’s being bullied because people notice she’s packed on a little pregnancy weight, it might be time to retire the word completely.

As the saying goes, if everything’s bullying then nothing’s bullying. Bullying is simply the new Godwin’s Law now.

Target can track a creepy amount of information about you. This teen found out the hard way.

Target can track a creepy amount of information about you. This teen found out the hard way.

Target keeps close tabs on everything it's customers buy.

They tag their customers with guest IDs and store all the detailed information they get from each customer.

They then analyze the information and track it. They've become so accurate at tracking that they've been able to predict with extreme accuracy when women become pregnant.

Target has created a system that allows them to send coupons for expecting mothers.

They have an algorithm that includes 25 very specific products. When a person buys those products, they can predict a pregnancy with decent confidence.

What's even scarier is that they can even guess when the person's going to be due based on what they buy!

What they've found is that they freak out their customers by congratulating them on their pregnancies before the customer has formally set up any registry or anything with Target, or even told their own family!

A father in Minneapolis went to a local Target demanding to speak with a manager. He was livid that his daughter had received coupons and information on maternity clothing and baby items.

It was inappropriate for Target to be sending his daughter, who was still in high school, information like that promoting pregnancy.

Later, the manager called the father to apologize again and was told that the father had spoken to his daughter. She admitted that she was pregnant and due in August, so the father apologized to the manager.

Some people think NASA is useless. This is why they're wrong.

Each year, since it's existence, NASA has published a list of every commercialized technology and product linked to it's research.

Here's some of the products that NASA has made possible:

  • Invisible braces came as a result of research done by NASA and hit the market in 1987.

  • Memory foam

  • Scratch resistant lenses.

  • Ear thermometers were developed to save time for nurses and were a result of NASA's technology used to measure the temperature of stars.

  • Adjustable smoke detectors hit the market due to technology created by NASA.

Safety grooving was first tested by NASA in the 60s to improve safety for aircrafts taking off on wet runways. When it was realized how well they worked, engineers began applying the technique to highways, too.

The safety grooves have reduced highway accidents by 85 percent according to NASA. The safety grooves are long shallow canals dug into the concrete on roads and runways.

They divert excess water from the road and help prevent hydroplaning. They also are put before stop signs to alert people of the upcoming intersection.
