ris-i-ble

adjective :: Exciting laughter; worthy to be laughed at; amusing.

Creativity : Creative Environments

http://ift.tt/1DAEit1 daily brain teaser

Your environment has a big impact upon your creative ability. If you work in a cubicle with perfectly white walls, boring furniture and elevator music, your creativity is probably going to be stifled.

Each person has his or her own particular environment that fosters performance. Some people do better in cold rooms, some in hot rooms. Some people like music, and others require silence. Some additional factors that affect performance are windows, lighting, color, decorations, food and drink, size of space, etc.

If you work in a group, try to be sensitive to the needs of your teammates. If you know that someone works best in silence, try to keep your music down (or use headphones). If some people work well on a sugar high, bring cookies and soda into your brainstorms. Simple changes around the office or classroom can have big effects on how people function in those spaces.

Memory : Study in Bed

http://ift.tt/1DAEit1 daily brain teaser

Many students study in bed before going to sleep. They may also study in bed at other times because it is a comfortable place. This should be avoided because it can interfere with good sleep. If you study in bed, then studying will become associated with your bed, and whenever you get into bed your mind will think about studying. An active mind can cause difficulty in falling to sleep, and sleep is very important, especially for students who rarely get an adequate amount of it. Additionally, there is not enough time for material that is learned immediately before going to sleep to sink into our minds; it is often forgotten by the time we wake up.

Another possibility is that sleep might become associated with studying. If this happens, whenever you sat down to study, regardless of the time or place, your mind will start to get sleepy. Obviously, this would limit the effectiveness of your studying!

There is no place you can legally watch and listen to the entire “I Have a Dream” speech for free, as the recording is owned and licensed by the EMI Publishing and the King Family. The only way to legally watch the speech in it’s entirety is to buy a copy.

http://ift.tt/1J4OvN2 diduknow

English words for livestock (cow, sheep, chicken) are Germanic-based and the words for meats (beef, mutton, poultry) are French-based. This is because the people who raised the animals were Anglo-Saxon peasants and the people who ate them were Norman aristocrats.

Creepy Devil Illusion

http://ift.tt/1GFQCKa babaf7ab433a1db064811a207826ae44

Sometimes i run across an illusion that’s just plain creepy and gives me the heebie jeebies. Today’s devil illusion is just such an illusion. The creep factor is strong with this one…

babaf7ab433a1db064811a207826ae44

At first glance, this image looks a little like the devil, or at least a very evil old man. If you look a little closer, though, you can see that this is an interesting devil illusion. Take a look at an enlarged version of this devil illusion…

babaf7ab433a1db064811a207826ae44

Now that this devil illusion has been blown up, you can see that it’s actually not a picture of a face at all. Instead, it;s a picture of three women. The way that their arms and legs are positioned, creates the features of the face in this devil illusion.

The woman on the top forms the evil man’s forehead and the illusion of horns. The woman on the right creates his eye, ear, cheek, chin, and neck. The woman on the left is holding a mirror that actually doubles as a monacle. Plus her head and raised arm form the man’s nose.

Like I said—this devil illusion is definitely creepy!

So, what did you think of today’s devil illusion? Did it creep you out? Check out some more devil illusions!
