Today's Daily Brain Teaser (Oct 04, 2014)

Ant Words

The following are clues that describe words containing an "ant". The clues do not refer to the words themselves, rather they refer to the word that must be added to the "ant". For example, "an ant that is waiting for something to happen" would be "expectant" (expect ant). The ant may appear at the beginning or the end of the word. Where it appears is given in the hint should you need it.

1. This ant will rely on you.

2. The end of an ant's trousers.

3. The first ant.

4. This will burn an ant severely.

5. Two ants going to get married in secret.

6. This ant rides up sloped driveways.

The Week In (Funny) Pictures

This Compilation Of Kittens Learning To Use Stairs Is The Most Adorable Video You'll See This Week

It's World Smile Day, and we can think of no finer compilation to celebrate it than this.

Because, as we all know, the only thing cuter than a video of a kitten is LOTS of videos of kittens. Preferably doing something ultra-cute like, ooh, I dunno, tackling stairs..?

Thank you, internet!

Bambi The Great Dane Has Worked Out How To Open A Baby Gate

This, my friends, is yet more proof that dogs are taking over the world - and are coming to get us. Or possibly just our children.

It's also more proof that dogs are increasingly being caught on CCTV doing things they shouldn't. If you liked this video, we recommend checking out the recent classics Dog Escapes House Through Window and Dog Helps Puppy Pal To Escape From Kennel.

You might be taking over the world, canine friends... but at least we're watching you while you do it.

On August 27, 1883 the sound that emerged from the eruption of the volcanic island of Krakatoa was heard by people in over 50 different geographical locations, spanning an area that covered a thirteenth of the globe. Some of those people reported hearing the sound over 3,000 miles away, a full four hours after the sound was made. A ship’s captain noted in his log “So violent are the explosions that the ear-drums of over half my crew have been shattered… I am convinced that the Day of Judgement has come.”

The Brilliant And Funny Short Film 'Animator Vs. Animation IV' Imagines What Would Happen If A Stick Figure Came To Life

Talented high school student Alan Becker created his first Animator Vs Animated short - depicting the struggle between a stick figure and its creator - in 2006.

Now, thanks to Kickstarter, he's created the fourth instalment. And it's a gem.

Watch the stick figure hacking into his creator's Facebook account, getting into his iPhone via its USB cord and generally creating havoc. It even creates animations of its own - and that, in turn, leads to a very lovely ending.

The whole thing is clever, funny - and at times even rather dark. Bravo, Mr Becker. We look forward to episode IV!

Baby Elephant Falls On Its Back At Zürich Zoo, Adult Elephants Rush Over To Help

It's all happening at our new favourite alliterative attraction, Zürich Zoo.

Specifically, it's all happening at Zürich Zoo's Kaeng Krachan Elephant Park: where a baby elephant slipped over, ended up on its back - and was immediately helped by three adult elephants.

Yes, the only thing more heartwarming than the sight of a baby elephant is the sight of a baby elephant being rescued. Aww!

Luis Suarez Can't Stop Biting People In FIFA 15

Luis Suarez's vampiric escapade at this year's World Cup in Brazil was one of the bigger news stories to come out of the tournament. The result was a months long ban and a move to Barcelona for the player who - while talented - too often lets his emotions, and his teeth, get the better of him.

Now he's at it again. In virtual reality.

A number of players of EA's new football sim FIFA 15 have noticed that the digital version of Suarez just can't stop himself from chomping on other players - even though he's actually banned from the career mode of the game, just like in real life:

Yes, it's likely that this is just the glitchy FIFA graphics and physics engine playing up again - it wouldn't be the first time.

But it's nice to see too that EA's commitment to realism extends to the darker side of the sport, even if it's only by accident... http://ift.tt/eA8V8J
