Operating a US aircraft carrier costs over $7 million per day!

Military equipment is expensive. It should be. It's highly advanced and helps keep us safe. Sometimes, it's so expensive, it's tough to believe though.

The Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carriers are a new class of aircraft carrier for the United States Navy. They are meant to replace the current Nimitz-class carriers.

These carriers feature new and improved technology such as the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System.

They also have more efficient automation so they reduce the required crew members by a few hundred. And they have a more sophisticated nuclear reactor design that produces more power.

Pretty impressive huh? It should be considering how much it costs to build and operate. One Ford-class aircraft carrier costs about $9 billion to build. And once it is built, it costs around $7 million per day to operate!
