Coke Zero was created as a way to sell Diet Coke to men!

Coke Zero was created as a way to sell Diet Coke to men!

Men don't want to drink girly drinks. Or at least that's what Coca-Cola found out when they tried to sell Diet Coke to men.

They associated Diet Coke (or really "diet" anything) with women. But men shouldn't be deprived of artificially low calorie sugar water, right? So Coca-Cola created Coke Zero and specifically marketed to men.

Coke Zero is advertised as tasting just like Coke but having less calories. There are about 50 calories for every 150 milliliters.

Diet Coke, on the other hand, is a completely different formula. Coke Zero is marketed mostly to young men, which has earned it the nickname "Bloke Coke" in the United Kingdom.

Advertising is careful not to call the drink "diet" but rather describe it as having "zero calories."
