It has been proven that Jack's death was "needless" in Titanic! Here's why.

It has been proven that Jack's death was "needless" in Titanic! Here's why.

James Cameron claims he receives dozens of emails a day quibbling that Rose is selfish, Jack is foolish, and both of them could have easily fit on the floating board and waited for rescue during the sinking of the ship.

The director turned to the Discovery show “Mythbusters” to help him with some fact-checking.

In perfect form, the two myth-busting hosts got into a river and tried to squeeze themselves onto a wooden door, mimicking the 63 minutes that the pair of young lovers would have to wait for rescue.

Their survival did involve a bit of Macgyvering - they tied Rose's life jacket to the bottom of the door to give more buoyancy to their makeshift raft.

The hypothermia aspect of the film was accurate, they measured, but there was just enough room for two: Both adult-sized men managed to huddle on the board.
