Bumblebees might be the most efficient flying animal. Here's why.

Bumblebees might be the most efficient flying animal. Here's why.

The way bumblebees fly sort of challenged the common knowledge of how things fly.

Scientists were baffled. According to their formulas, something with the mass of a bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly with wings so small.

A number of studies have been conducted to try to understand this bee’s unique method of flying.

What is their secret? They create an air vortex with their wings.

The way their wings are positioned creates an effect called dynamic stall.

This dynamic stall creates a vortex above the wings, which provides greater lift with minimal energy.
