The man was was in a raspberry field in a southern region of Russia when the bear approached him.
Instead of backing out or playing dead, the man started punching, kicking, and headbutting the bear. The man managed to get the bear off balance
This might have saved his life, as the bear became irritated with the man and tossed him off a cliff, then went away.
The old man was hospitalized with bruises, bite wounds and four broken ribs. However, experts say that he was spared of a possibly fatal mauling.
