A man has claimed the record for fastest drive between NYC and LA: 28h 50m!

Ed Bolian claims to have shattered the record for fastest drive between NYC and LA by over 2 hours.

The man has GPS records to show that he achieved the drive in 28 hours and 50 minutes. If true, this would break the previous record achieved in 2006 of 31 hours and 4 minutes.

Bolian didn’t simply get on his car and started driving. He spent years planning his run and modifying his car. His 9-year-old Mercedes has 2 extra 22 gallon fuel tanks, 2 GPS and a cop-radars so he wouldn’t get pulled over.

He and 2 other people took on the drive between Oct. 19 - 20 and they only had a total of 46 minutes of rest time. They drove an average of 98mph and to minimize stops, they even brought a bedpan on board.
