The rights to 7 Up are owned by Pepsi in every country EXCEPT the US!

The popular lemony-limey soft drink, 7 Up was launched in 1929. It was originally called Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda.

(No wonder they changed the name) Until 1950, it contained the mood-stabilizing drug lithium citrate. Obviously, 7 Up has come a long way from where it started.

Today, there are many different variations, including Diet 7 Up, Cherry 7 Up, Orange 7 Up, and Retro 7 Up.

Interestingly enough, while 7 Up is sold all around the world, two different companies hold the rights to the brand depending on what country you're in.

In the United States, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group owns the rights to the brand. In the rest of the world PepsiCo owns the 7 Up brand.
