The oldest educational institution still operating is Moroccan university!

Fatima al-Fihri founded the al-Karouine mosque in 859 in Fes, Morocco. The mosque also had associated schools.

The mosque and it's schools became one of the leading educational centers in the historic Muslim world.

The school remained in existence, and in 1963, the University of al-Karaouine was incorporated into Morocco's university system.

As such, it is the oldest continually operating educational system in the world (as confirmed by UNESCO and Guinness World Records).

Some also say that it is the world's oldest university but others say it can't technically be called a university since it formed outside the European model.
