Only 1% of corn grown is eaten in its pure form! How do we use the rest?

Only 1% of corn grown is eaten in its pure form! How do we use the rest?

While corn is one of the world's most popular vegetables, the smallest percentage is actually used for eating purely off of the cob, popped, etc.!

The rest of the corn grown is snuck into our food supply in surprising ways!

For instance, corn is used in animal food and artificial sweeteners. It can also be used as an alternative fuel source for cars.

That use has been the focus of recent discussion because there have been subsidies for corn-based fuels which have driven up the price of corn for other uses.

The documentary King Corn examines the extreme role that corn plays in our lives and how, like mentioned above, corn goes in many places you wouldn't imagine!
