What do you do when a piece of technology doesn't work? If you're like me you have one of two options: 1) turn it off and on again or 2) hit it until it works. Granted, these two techniques don't always work, but hey, sometimes they do!

Hitting a device until it works, while ill advised, actually has a name: "percussive maintenance". Percussive maintenance is defined as "the use of physical concussion, a knock or a tap, in an attempt to make a malfunctioning device start to work correctly again."
