92% of bicyclists who get into a fatal accident aren't wearing a helmet.

Helmets provide a 66% to 88% reduction in the risk of head, brain and severe brain injury across all ages. Helmets provide equal levels of protection for crashes involving motor vehicles (69%) and crashes from all other causes (68%). Injuries to the upper and mid facial areas are reduced by 65%.




Cycling is a healthy and popular activity for people of all ages. However, injuries are common are common and often involve motor vehicles. Head injuries are responsible for around three-quarters of deaths among bicyclists involved in crashes.




Approximately 92% of bicyclists killed in the US from 1994-2009 were not wearing a helmet.
