As seen in the marvel movies; Thor often uses the hammer as a physical weapon, with almost nothing being capable of withstanding a hammer blow or throw.

It has been described as impacting with sufficient force to “destroy mountains” and has proven capable of shattering the armor of a Celestial.

Not everyone is worthy enough to hold it and wield its power. This is not Superman’s case. In the 2003-2004 fangasm that was JLA/Avengers, Superman uses both Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer in the final battle against Krona.

He was one step away from being the ultimate superhero, all Superman needed was Bruce Banner's mystical fuchsia jorts that allow him to transform into the Hulk.
