In 1966, an ex-marine sharpshooter climbed to the top of a University of Texas clock-tower and opened fire on people below.
The 24 year Charles Whitman old killed 14 people and a fetus before police shot him to death. Whitman also hit 31 other people who survived.
One such person was David H. Gunby. In 2001, 35 years after her was shot by Whitman, Gunby died from complications from his wound. The bullet had affected his kidney.
Gunby decided to stop dialysis treatment and died shortly after. His death was ruled a homicide and he was named Whitman's 15th victim.
