The world’s shortest commercial flight lasts 2 minutes!

Papa Westray, one of the Orkney Islands in Scotland, has a population of 70 and is home to the record of the world's shortest regular commercial flight.




If you're familiar with the Orkney Islands, you might know that Orkney Ferries are somewhat more popular (and practical) transportation forms for travelling between certain islands.




Loganair, a Scottish airline, operates Britten-Norman Islanders that fly from Papa Westray Airport to Westray and Kirkwall.




The flights from Papa Westray to Westray is the world's shortest scheduled flight, at around 2 minutes.




There are ferries from Papa Westray to Westray, though they are slightly longer.




Westray has a population of 550, and its main industries are fishing, fish farming, and cattle farming.




The island is also notable for its plan to make the island self sufficient with renewable energy by the end of 2012.
