Let's have a moment of silence for the unspoken heroes of Carnegie Hall, the stage hands.
They work hard, enduring long hours, only to not be recognized by anyone. They go generally unnoticed. Even when the recession hit in 2009, the stage hand salary suffered.
Some stage hands noticed a 7% drop in their salary, bringing them to around $410,000 a year. That's quite the salary to move a few props around.
Now, for those of you that think stage hands make little to no money - you are wrong. Well, at least in some cases. The highest paid stage hand at Carnegie hall makes over $500,000 salary per year, and the other four full time stage hands average around $410,000 a year.
The President has a salary of $400,000 per year. Based on salaries alone, a stage hand makes more money than the President of the United States.
The reason that stage hands can make so much money is again, because of the long hours that they have to work setting up and taking down different stages. There is plenty of opportunities for them to rack up on overtime hours, and they definitely do!
