An island in the South Pacific has a functioning underwater post office!

There is a small island nation in the South Pacific known as Vanuatu, that consists of a 82 newly formed islands.

Not only is Vanuatu know to tourists because of the tropical climate and beautiful scenery, but because they have one of the most unique placements for a postal office.

50 meters off shore from Port Vila on Hideaway Island, just 3 meters below the surface, there is a functioning post office.

Although the post office is really just a small booth with a mailbox on the outside, it has attracted tourists and scuba divers from all around the world!

The most fascinating part about this small little post office is that if you place a letter in the mail box - your letter will actually get sent through the mail! It's someone's job to periodically check the mailbox and send off all letters placed inside of them!
