The tailbone, the appendix, and ‘goose bumps’ are all examples of human vestigiality, or traits that occur in humans which have lost their function through evolution. The tailbone is the remnant of a lost tail, the appendix was used for digestive purposes, and ‘Goose Bumps’ would flare body hair as a defense mechanism or to keep warm.
