Generally, hot dogs are filled with a blend of meat made from trimmings of fat and starch or “cereal filler”. Then sealed up. Big companies such as Nestle, General Mills, Kraft, Cambell’s, Hillshire Farm and Heinz won’t reveal where their meat comes from. A study in 2007 found that eating processed meat increased the risk of getting bowel cancer. There wold be 4,000 fewer cases of bowel cancer if people had less than 70 grams of processed meat a week. For example, one hot dog contains around 30 grams of processed meat.
