The versatile and rebellious actor Johnny Depp has recently revealed to Rolling Stone that he is blind in his left eye. Depp has been struggling with his vision all his life. He is near sighted in his right eye and has never had proper vision.
He wears glasses when not on set, because without them he can only see a few feet in front of him. Being one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors, one would never notice that he is battling to see while he is portraying his more-often-than-not deep, dark or sinister characters.
The fact that he is blind in his one eye may even be one of the reasons the actor adopted Golden Eye, the one-eyed Andalusian horse who played Gunpowder in Sleepy Hollow, thereby saving the horse from a horrible fate.
Battling his challenges with sight seems nothing compared to the "Edward Scissorhands" star’s battle for normalcy. He is quoted as having one desire: “Going somewhere where you don’t have to be on the run or sneak in through the kitchen or the underground labyrinth of the hotel,” he said. “At a certain point, when you get old enough or get a few brain cells back, you realize that, on some level, you lived a life of a fugitive.”
