Tom Perkins is an American businessman, capitalist, and was one of the founders of leading venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

As of 2007 Perkins sits on the board of directors of Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation, where he serves with Viet D. Dinh. Dinh represented Perkins in the HP board affair.

Perkins has two children and is currently divorced. He was also made a knight of the Kingdom of Norway in appreciation of earlier philanthropic contributions. He in fact has an interesting life.

At one time, Tom Perkins spelled out a secret message using nautical code flags strung along the length of his enormous yacht. The message? "Rarely does one have the privilege of witnessing vulgar ostentation displayed upon such a scale."

How ostentatious is his boat? It cost $130 million to build. It's as long as a football field and 20 stories high. The man who built it said of the boat: "If Darth Vader had an intergalactic yacht, this is what it would look like."
