The Lion King was considered a B-movie while the better team worked on Pocahontas!

For the longest time, The Lion King was the top animated movie of all time. It is undoubtedly one of the most classic masterpieces of animation history. Pocahontas, while great in it's own regard, not quite so.

However, you wouldn’t have gotten that answer if you asked the Disney animators in 1991, when they had a choice of working in either. Both movies started production at about the same time, and most animators decided for Pocahontas.

As a result, most of the lead animators on Lion King were doing their first work supervising a character or just were interesting in animating an animal.

In the end, both movies were successful and critically acclaimed, but I think we can all agree that The Lion King was the better of the two.
