James Cameron sold the rights to Terminator only on the condition that he direct the movie!

James Cameron has been praised as a creative genius for his work on Titanic and Avatar, but few people realized that when he got his big break after he wrote, and directed Terminator starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Initially, Cameron wrote the script and tried to sell it to producers for major movie companies - but none of them showed interest. None of them, until Gale Anne Hurd.

Gale Anne Hurd showed interest in the films script, and Cameron proposed to sell her the rights for one dollar, under the condition that if she produced it - he got to direct it.

Hurd took a gamble on a man that had never directed a major motion picture, and a classic masterpiece of science fiction was created.
