Diesel and Riddick writer-director David Twohy have overcome obstacles, but the key move came in 2006, when Universal asked Diesel to make a cameo in The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Looking to recharge the series, the studio wanted to use his brief return in Tokyo Drift to signal he would be back center stage in a fourth movie. Diesel agreed, but instead of an acting fee, he demanded the studio give him and his One Race production company rights to the Riddick character.

If you don't know the story of the Titanic, you are likely some kind of hermit. To catch you up, the giant, "unsinkable" ship sunk on it's maiden voyage across the Atlantic after it hit an iceberg. Thousands of passengers died due in part to the ship not having enough lifeboats to save them all.

Women and children boarded the lifeboats first, but First Class passengers were given priority over Second and Third Class ones. Very few First Class women and children died - just 4 women and one child. On the other hand, 91 women and 55 children in Third Class died.

The Third Class women and children has a better chance of survival than First Class men, though. One hundred and five First Class male passengers died—only 32% of them survived. 49% percent of the Third Class female passengers survived. A woman in 3rd class was more likely to survive than a man in 1st!

New York City is not known for having a lot of extra space. So good things sometimes happen in odd places.

That's why the Highline park, built on an old elevated train platform in the Meatpacking district of Manhattan's West Side, became such a hit.

And now a variation on unused space may get the park treatment as well. But this time it's underground.

The founders of the park plan, architect James Ramsey and Dan Barasch, have built a full-scale model of what they're calling the Lowline, a park in an abandoned subway station below Delancey Street.

To give New Yorkers a sense of what a subterranean play area would be like, the co-founders raised $155,000 so New Yorkers could try it out.

In general, you’d say hurricanes are bad for business. But apparently they’re good for some products—specifically, beer and strawberry Pop-Tarts.

Wal-Mart is good at learning all about it's customers through their buying habits, the company used some groovy software to figure out what Floridians bought as Hurricane Charley approached, and stocked it's stores accordingly for Hurricane Frances.

Survival gear and canned goods weren’t the only go-to categories. Whenever a natural disaster is about to strike, or pretty much at any time of year, the two most valuable products to Wal-Mart costumers seem to be both pop-tarts and beer.

They might not even care about clothing or anything else when beer and pop-tarts pop into their head.
