Kodak could make a nuclear weapon! Learn why.

Kodak could make a nuclear weapon! Learn why.

The word "camera" comes to mind when you think of the company Kodak, so you're probably just as surprised as we were when we found out that Kodak kept a nuclear reactor a secret for more than 30 years. The reactor was kept in an underground basement in Rochester, New York.

Kodak bought the reactor in 1974, which was known as a Californium Neutron Flex multiplier, which was filled with 3.5 pounds of uranium plates, the type of material used to make nuclear weapons.

The device was kept in a bunker with 2-foot thick walls and was always under tight security. One two of these devices were ever built!

Kodak claims that the device was completely safe, and that they used it for decades to conduct research, and check materials for impurities!

The local police and fire departments were completely unaware of the nuclear reactor's existence!

There’s a theory that suggests autistic people shut down because they feel too much!

Autism is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with a polygenetic predisposition that seems to be triggered by multiple environmental factors during embryonic and/or early postnatal life.

While significant advances have been made in identifying the neuronal structures and cells affected, a unifying theory that could explain the manifold autistic symptoms has still not emerged.

However, there is a theory that tries to explain the behavior of those who suffer from autism. The Intense World Theory suggests that Autistic people do not lack empathy/emotion.

They shut down because they are overloaded by emotions due to hypersensitivity and are not able to express empathy/emotion like other people because of that. Essentially, autistic people feel too much.

This 80s horror movie was so graphic and realistic that the director was arrested for murder!

A film with a name like Cannibal Holocaust is bound to be horrific. Director Ruggero Deodato took the horror a step too far though.

More than a step. In 1980, Deodato released the fictitious film, which followed a group of American filmmakers in to the Amazon basin in search of a previous expedition looking for cannibal tribes.

The film consists of the footage of this American filmmaking team that is recovered after they too disappear. Deodato is often credited with creating the "found footage" genre (a la The Blair Witch Project).

The movie features murder, torture, the slaughter of wild animals, genocide, castration, and many more unspeakable acts before it's cannibalistic climax.

Deodato was fined for animal cruelty and the film was banned in his home country of Italy for 3 years. It was also banned in 40 other countries including the UK until 2001.

Deodato himself was accused of murdering his actors - that's how real the footage appeared. Talk about horrifying. He was put on trial but proved his innocence by bringing one of the supposedly murder actors in.

The origin of upper case and lower case letters is actually incredibly simple! What is it?

The origin of upper case and lower case letters is actually incredibly simple! What is it?

The Printing Press was the most revolutionary piece of equipment ever created. The printing press allowed the creation and duplication of many different documents, so that they could be spread around the world.

Reading and Writing were skills only obtained by the rich and religious leaders. The creation of the printing press made it easier for the general public to have access to reading materials, and slowly, overtime, they learned how to read.

Enough of that boring history. Let's learn why we refer to capital letters as 'uppercase' and regular leaders, as 'lower case'. The original printing press had two different cases on it.

Each case was identical, except for the fact that one of the cases had only capital letters (A, B, C...) While the other case had regular letters (a, b, c...)

People started referring to capital letters as Upper Case letters because they were literally on the upper case of the printing press!

In 1000 years of British Royal Marriages, only 2 of them were between unrelated people. Which ones?

In 1000 years of British Royal Marriages, only 2 of them were between unrelated people. Which ones?

For some reason, the British royal marriages have fallen into endogamy for some reason.

The British royal cousin marriages are considered an example of endogamy, or the practice of marrying within a specific class and social group, often for financial gain or influence in affairs of state. The handful of first-cousin marriages was not out of the norm for their time.

After the 11th century, in only two cases there is no known familial relationship. Neither woman was queen consort. Both marriages were considered scandalous for their time.

The first wife of James II was the only daughter of a wealthy man, but with no pedigree. The marriage did produce two future sovereign queens.

Edward VIII married Wallis Simpson, and cited his desire to marry the twice divorced American woman as the reason for his abdication in 1936.

All drivers must come to the rescue of an accident victim in Germany!

All drivers must come to the rescue of an accident victim in Germany!

All driving codes should enforce this.

Driving in Germany is regulated by the Highway Code. Enforcement is handled by each state’s highway patrol, sometimes using unmarked police cars and motorcycles and sometimes equipped with video cameras, thus allowing easier enforcement of laws such as tailgating.

However, there is a civic duty that everyone must follow at Germany while driving: There is a general duty to rescue in Germany.

If there is an accident, a driver is obliged to stop and help, whenever and to the degree to which it is possible.

Doctors, even if they are not Germans or living in Germany, are obliged to stop and help, unless an ambulance is already at the scene.

First aid training is mandatory in order to obtain a driving license in Germany; also every vehicle has to carry a first-aid-kit.

Just imagine how many lives have been saved thanks to this!

A man swam the entire Amazon river! The most amazing thing is how he planned to evade piranhas.

Martin Strel is a legendary Slovenian long-distance swimmer. He is best known for completing Stage swims along the entire length of the Danube River, the Mississippi River, the Yangtze River, and the Amazon River!

Strel's motto is "swimming for peace, friendship and clean waters." He currently operates open water swimming tours with his son Borut Strel at a family’s business!

Strel swam the Amazon River starting on 1 February 2007 and finished 66 days later on April 7, 2007. This was a record-breaking stage swim of 3,273 miles, longer than the width of the Atlantic Ocean.

He had escort boats that were prepared to pour blood into the river to distract meat-eating fish such as piranhas.
