The More You Ignore Me, The Crazier I Get

I may have to turn this into a weekly feature: “What Insanely Idiotic Thing Did Morrissey Say This Week?”

When you’ve even lost the backing of Salon -the homebase for liberal outrage porn- that’s when you’ve really gone off the rails. Morrissey is off the rails, over the cliff, and the car exploded halfway down. And in the process he’s come up with something even worse than Godwin’s Law. Do we call it Morrissey’s Law? It’s when you invoke not just Nazis but also pedophilia in your internet argument. Ehhh, still a working title.

A doctor intentionally gave his patients Malaria. For this he won the Nobel Prize. Learn why.

Julius Wagner-Jauregg was an Austrian physician, and Nazi supporter, that lived from March 7, 1857, until September 27, 1940.

Most of his work involved pyrotherapy, which was the treatment of mental diseases by intentionally giving his patients a fever. His tests usually didn't go very well.

It wasn't until 1917 that Julius Wagner tried introducing malaria parasites to give his patients high fevers.

He first used malaria to treat dementia paralytics which is caused by neurosyphilis!

After this initial test, malaria was intentionally given to patients as a treatment for syphilis because it gave the patients a very long, very high fever.

Intentionally giving people malaria to cure syphilis was considered an acceptable risk because certain forms of syphilis were fatal, and malaria could be treated with quinine, which was readily available at the time!

Julius Wagner-Jauregg would go on to win a Nobel Prize in 1927 for his Research.

The Russian Olympic Team once showed up 12 days later to the Olympics. The reason why is pretty crazy.

The 1908 Olympics Games in London became known as the Olympics where communication was incredibly poor.

Why? Because the Imperial Russian Olympic Team arrived in London 12 days too late for the games.

How can this be possible? Surely both nations had agreed on a start date?

As it turns out, England was using the Gregorian calendar, the one that we use today, for over a century and a half.

Unfortunately, Russia was still using the Julian calendar - a pretty dated (pun intended) way to keep track of the days!

After the Olympics, Pope Gregory XIII tried to initiate a planet wide effort for countries to adopt the Gregorian calendar.

Essentially, if you were switching suddenly to the Gregorian calendar - you were 'canceling' ten days a year!

Are you guys and gals out there ready for yet another brain teaser optical illusion? I know you all absolutely love these types of optical illusions, which is why I’ve started to focus more on posting brain teasers up for all of you out there. This brain teaser is one of those ones that are definitely going to mess with your mind. I would suggest reading over the paragraph first of all and then counting up all the F’s that can be found in the paragraph. However, it’s completely up to you.
